to providing free assistance to Veterans of all branches of service
with service-related claims, providing guidance in obtaining medical
attention and housing, and through weekly support group meetings,
assisting those Veterans dealing with PTSD.


 

ABOUT VETERANS SUPPORT GROUP, INC

Jim Dunn served in the Marine Corps, 7th Com, from 1969 to 1973, serving overseas from 1970-1971.  After leaving the service, Dunn forged a career in finance and sales, and currently works for the Henry County Board of Education as a School Bus Driver.

Dunn volunteers regularly at the Stockbridge VA clinic, assisting Veterans checking in and answering questions they may have concerning Paperwork, and signing up for MY HEALTHEVET, a resource to help Veterans keep up with their medications, test results, and appointments.

Dunn has been married to Theresa for 44 years.  Formally from Newton County, Dunn and his wife have resided in Henry County for the last 10 years.  He is the proud father of three grown children and two grandchildren.  He and his wife are members of St. James Catholic Church in McDonough.

Bob Van Dunk has devoted 49 years to federal and military service and is retired from the U.S. Army.  He served as First Sergeant with 1/87th Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, in Baumholder, Germany.  Van Dunk's final military tour of active duty was as the Deputy Director of Logistics in Baumholder, Germany.  His civil service career began in 1987 at Mainz Army Depot (MZAD) in Mainz, Germany.  Following the closure of MZAD in1993, Van Dunk relocated to the 200th Theater Army Materiel Maintenance Center (TAMMC) in Kaiserslautern, Germany, as the USAREUR Operational Readiness Float (ORF) Manager.  The USAREUR ORF equipment supported unit deployments during Operation Desert Storm and in Bosnia.  In 2000, Van Dunk came to U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) in Fort McPherson, GA, as the Chemical Equipment Manager.  He spent his last five years in civil service as the Small Arms Weapons Manager.

Van Dunk was instrumental in starting Marine Corps League 1339 in McDonough and was their first Commandant.   He works as a Veteran Administration Volunteer Services Representative at the Stockbridge VA Clinic each week. For the last four years Van Dunk has co-facilitated a weekly support group for veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, provided assistance with VA paper work, and worked with vets to find housing.  

Van Dunk is married to Dianne Janas Van Dunk.  They reside in McDonough and are members of McDonough First United Methodist Church.

Veterans Support Group, Inc (VSG) was founded with the purpose of supporting Veterans from all branches of service with free assistance with Service-Related claims, providing guidance in obtaining medical attention and housing and through weekly PTSD support group meetings. 


While founded to support the local community, VSG envisions expanding to assist Veterans around the country and providing much needed guidance and assistance in navigating benefits and support.
